I first got into photography when I was in my early teens: my mum, a keen amateur photographer herself, let me help her to develop monochrome prints in her DIY darkroom - our utility room with some black out fabric across the window.  She later bought me my first “proper” camera, an Olympus OM1.

I have gone digital, upgrading to an Olympus E-500, but still love and use my OM1.  Indeed, the OM1 was my camera of choice when I went travelling in my gap year, as I was less scared of dropping it.

I tend to shoot in black and white/XP2 and shoot most subjects, though I try to avoid people.  I’ve no idea how to use Photoshop, so my shots are as the camera intended – however, any tips will be gratefully received!
